Welcome to Simsaonline. This is a news site produced by the Solomon Islands Medical Students Association. Based at the Fiji School of Medicine in Suva, Fiji, the association comprises of students from Solomon Islands studying in various medical fields. The site carries stories of the day to day happenings at FSMed especially the ones which the members of SIMSA have actively took part in. Welcome on board visitors.

History of Solomon Islands Medical Students Association- SIMSA

 

In 1993, it was formerly called Wantoks Students Association. It comprised of students from Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Cook Islands studying at Fiji School of Medicine. They usually held monthly combine services and functions.

In 1994- 1995 the idea of starting the Solomon Islands Medical Students Association (SIMSA) and Vanuatu Student Association become very strong as the number of students of both countries increases.

In 1996, one of the Solomon Islands students died and the idea of forming SIMSA were forwarded to Fiji School of Medicine Student Association (FSMSA).

Later in 1997, SIMSA came into existence and its constitution was formed. Revised constitution was made in 2002.
